Your 10 Days Morocco Family Tour begins in Casablanca, where your private driver meets your family for the journey north.
Before leaving Casablanca, enjoy time around the impressive Hassan II Mosque and its Atlantic setting. Continue to Rabat, Morocco's capital, for a relaxed stop around landmarks such as Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.
From Rabat, travel north toward the Rif Mountains. The changing countryside and mountain scenery make the journey increasingly beautiful as you approach Chefchaouen.
Arrive in the famous Blue City and settle into your riad. The remainder of the day is deliberately relaxed, allowing everyone to rest after traveling or enjoy an easy first walk through the blue-painted streets.
Spend the first night surrounded by Chefchaouen's peaceful mountain atmosphere.
Distance: Approximately 340 km.
Enjoy a full day in Chefchaouen without packing the schedule with too many activities.
After breakfast, explore the medina together. Chefchaouen's compact center and colorful streets make it an enjoyable place for families to wander at a relaxed pace.
Walk past blue stairways, decorated doors and small local shops before reaching Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the lively heart of the old town.
There will be plenty of time for photographs, snacks and breaks along the way rather than rushing between landmarks.
Families who want a little more activity can walk toward one of the elevated viewpoints surrounding the medina, while those preferring a slower afternoon can enjoy cafés and continue exploring the quieter streets.
Return to your accommodation for a second night in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast, enjoy a final relaxed morning in Chefchaouen before leaving the Rif Mountains and traveling toward Fes.
The shorter itinerary today helps balance the longer driving days later in the journey and gives the family time to enjoy both destinations without feeling rushed.
Arrive in Fes and settle into your riad before beginning a gentle introduction to Morocco's oldest imperial city.
Depending on your arrival time, explore some of the surroundings of the medina or enjoy a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the historic city.
The remainder of the evening is free. Families can relax at the riad, enjoy a Moroccan dinner or take a short walk before preparing for the following day's exploration of Fes.
Distance: Approximately 200 km.
Today is dedicated to discovering the fascinating history and culture of Fes.
Enter Fes el-Bali and explore its maze of narrow streets, traditional shops and artisan workshops. Children can watch craftspeople working with metal, leather, wood and ceramics while adults discover the architecture and history of the ancient medina.
Visit a viewpoint overlooking the famous tanneries and see the colorful dyeing vats that have become one of the city's most recognizable sights.
Take regular breaks throughout the day so younger travelers can enjoy the experience without an overly demanding schedule.
The medina also provides plenty of opportunities to discover Moroccan sweets, fresh bread and local products along the way.
Later, return to your riad and enjoy another evening in Fes.
Leave Fes after breakfast and begin one of the most scenic journeys of the tour.
Travel through the Middle Atlas toward Ifrane before continuing through cedar forest landscapes. The forest region is home to Barbary macaques, and there may be opportunities to observe them in their natural surroundings while keeping a respectful distance.
Continue through mountain towns and changing landscapes as the green Middle Atlas gradually gives way to the drier scenery of southeastern Morocco.
Stop at panoramic viewpoints overlooking the beautiful Ziz Valley and its long stretches of palm groves.
Continue toward Merzouga, where the enormous golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon.
Arrive near the dunes and settle into your accommodation for a relaxing evening before the family's Sahara adventure.
Enjoy a slower morning near the Sahara before beginning a day of desert experiences.
Spend time around Merzouga and admire the enormous Erg Chebbi dunes. Children and adults can experience the unique environment together and enjoy plenty of opportunities for family photographs.
Later, try sandboarding on the dunes before preparing for one of the highlights of the journey.
In the afternoon, climb onto your camels and travel across the golden dunes as a family. The camel trek leads deeper into the Sahara while the afternoon light transforms the surrounding landscape.
Stop to experience sunset among the dunes before continuing toward the desert camp.
Enjoy dinner at the camp and spend the evening beneath the desert sky before settling in for an unforgettable family night in the Sahara.
Wake early if you would like to watch sunrise over the dunes before enjoying breakfast and leaving Merzouga.
Travel west toward Tinghir and the spectacular Todra Gorge.
Spend time walking through the gorge, where towering rock walls rise dramatically on both sides. The relatively easy walk allows families to experience one of southern Morocco's most impressive natural landscapes together.
Continue toward the Dades Valley through scenery filled with rocky mountains, traditional villages and kasbahs.
Stop at panoramic viewpoints along the route and discover some of the unusual rock formations for which the region is known.
Arrive at your accommodation in the Dades Valley and enjoy a quieter evening after the day's journey.
Distance: Approximately 270 km.
After breakfast, leave the Dades Valley and continue west through the landscapes of southern Morocco.
Travel through the Valley of Roses before reaching Ouarzazate and continuing toward Ait Ben Haddou.
Explore the UNESCO-listed fortified village together, walking through its narrow passages and traditional earthen buildings. Its castle-like appearance makes it an especially interesting stop for younger travelers.
Afterward, continue into the High Atlas Mountains. Enjoy panoramic stops along the mountain road before descending toward Marrakech.
Arrive in the Red City and settle into your accommodation. The evening is free for the family to rest after the journey.
Distance: Approximately 325 km.
Enjoy a full day exploring Marrakech at a relaxed family-friendly pace.
Discover the historic medina, colorful souks and some of the city's beautiful architecture. Wander through market streets filled with lanterns, textiles, spices, ceramics and handcrafted products.
Take time for breaks and refreshments throughout the day before continuing toward some of Marrakech's gardens and open spaces.
Later, experience the atmosphere around Jemaa el-Fnaa as the famous square becomes increasingly lively toward the evening.
Food stalls, shops and surrounding rooftop terraces create a memorable final-city experience for the whole family.
Return to your accommodation for another night in Marrakech.
The final day is deliberately kept flexible so the family can finish the journey without rushing.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before choosing how to spend your remaining time in Marrakech. Return to the souks for souvenirs, visit a garden, enjoy a family-friendly Moroccan cooking experience or simply relax at your riad.
Families who want additional sightseeing can continue exploring the medina, while those traveling with younger children may prefer a slower morning around the accommodation or one of the city's quieter areas.
Use the final hours to enjoy Marrakech together and reflect on the journey from Morocco's northern cities through the mountains and all the way to the Sahara.
The 10-day family journey concludes in Marrakech.
This eight-day itinerary has been designed for travelers who want to experience several different sides of Morocco without spending most of the holiday inside a vehicle. The route combines the Atlantic atmosphere of Essaouira and Agadir with the history and energy of Marrakech, followed by the mountain scenery, fortified villages, palm oases, and kasbah landscapes of southern Morocco.
Day 6 from Ouarzazate to Agadir is the longest transfer at approximately 350 km, but stops around Taznakht and Taliouine help divide the journey. Most other travel days are considerably shorter, and the itinerary includes a full sightseeing day in Marrakech, a regional excursion from Ouarzazate, a short trip to Paradise Valley, and a relaxed final day in Agadir. Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and a light additional layer for the High Atlas Mountains are useful throughout much of the year.
